SUBJECT:  Renewal of the 1998 Standard Reinsurance Agreement for the 
                        2000 Reinsurance Year
                                
Per section V.M. of the 1998 Standard Reinsurance Agreement (SRA), the SRA will continue in
effect with an annual renewal date of July 1 of each succeeding year unless the Federal Crop
Insurance Company (FCIC) gives at least 180 days advance notice in writing to the reinsured
companies that the SRA will not be renewed.  For the 2000 reinsurance year, reinsured
companies must be notified of the SRA cancellation by December 31, 1998.
                                
FCIC is not canceling the 1998 SRA.  Therefore, it will remain in effect for the 2000 reinsurance
