SUBJECT: Revenue Plans of Insurance

BACKGROUND:

The California Avocado Pilot Crop Insurance Program was approved for implementation in Ventura County, California and the Pecan Revenue Pilot Crop Insurance Program was approved for implementation in a total of seven counties in the states of Georgia, Texas, and New Mexico. The Risk Management Agency (RMA) has received several inquiries regarding the proper terms for reinsuring these crop insurance programs under the Standard Reinsurance Agreement.

ACTION:

Effective for the 2000 reinsurance year, FCIC will consider the California Avocado Pilot and the Pecan Revenue Pilot Programs to be revenue insurance plans for the purposes of assigning eligible crop insurance contracts to the Commercial, Developmental, or Assigned Risk Funds in accordance with section II.B. of the Standard Reinsurance Agreement. This action does not affect the Florida Pilot Avocado Crop Insurance Program.
