SUBJECT: 1998 Income Protection--Wheat Crop Provisions 
     
BACKGROUND:
     
The Board of Directors of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC)
has approved the expansion of the Income Protection - Wheat pilot
program to the following States and counties: 
     
Idaho:        Idaho, Latah, Lewis, and  Nez Perce
Montana:      Big Horn, Choteau, and Yellowstone
Oregon:       Gilliam, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, and Wasco
     
ACTION:
     
The Income Protection - Wheat Crop Provisions effective for the 1998 and
succeeding crop years are enclosed.  Changes reflect those made in the
1997 Income Protection Crop Provisions for corn and cotton.  
     
Income Protection - Wheat actuarial material is available electronically
via the Reporting Organization (RO) server.  This release includes the
FCI-35 Coverage and Rate Tables. Additional underwriting information
will be released in July 1997.
