SUBJECT: Income Protection - Changes for the 1999 Spring Planted Crops 

BACKGROUND:

Due to company and producer requests, several changes are being proposed for the Income
Protection (IP) Pilot Program for the 1999 spring planted crops.

ACTION:

A teleconference is scheduled for 2 p.m. central daylight time Wednesday August 5, to
discuss the proposed 1999 crop year IP changes.   If you would like to be a part of this
teleconference, please contact Elaine Taylor or Carol McElroy of the Research and Evaluation
Division at (816) 926-6343 by 4 p.m. central time on August 4, 1998, to reserve a phone line.

The following will be covered at the teleconference:

1)  The IP Actuarial Document print format change.

2)  Rating Changes.

3)  Potential spring wheat expansion and increased coverage levels.

4)  Potential IP corn and soybean expansion.

5)  Potential IP product which uses an Indexed IP yield.

6)  Potential IP expansion to cover Barley.
