USDA RELEASES STUDIES ABOUT FEDERAL CROP INSURANCE PROGRAM ACTUARIAL METHODOLOGY
WASHINGTON, Dec 1, 2009 - RMA released the findings of a study on Sep 23, 2009, regarding aggregate rates of
return earned by approved insurance providers in the Federal crop insurance program for the past 20 years.
“Historical Rate of Return Analysis,” dated Aug 18, 2009, covers the years
1989 through 2008, and was conducted by Milliman, Inc., on behalf of RMA.
The 2008 data RMA provided to Milliman in February 2009 for the study was preliminary, and has now been updated
with more current data. Please see the newly revised Table 8 (originally, page 29 in report).
